Blackboard Collaborate is an online collaborative learning solution. The tool is tightly integrated with HuskyCT, the University’s learning management system, and its features complement the existing functionality of HuskyCT. Collaborate also has in-session tools, such as breakout rooms, an interactive whiteboard, application sharing, polling, and a hand-raising feature, that enhance engagement and the face-to-face feel of online classes.
WebEx is an online conferencing tool that enables you to hold meetings and share data, presentations, and online demonstrations. WebEx lectures or meetings can easily be recorded, and the video files can uploaded into Blackboard courses. Learn how to use WebEx
UConn offers two versions of WebEx – Community and Reserved. WebEx Community is available to anyone with a NetID and does not require specialized access or equipment. With WebEx Reserved, you can host large webinars and create a more custom experience by connecting to video conferencing.
Cisco Videoconference Classrooms and Conference Rooms
Video conferencing facilities are available at all UConn campuses. The video conferencing systems allow UConn to connect one or more sites regionally, nationally, and internationally for scheduled classes, administrative meetings, and other conferences.
Cisco Meeting Server
Cisco Meeting Server (CMS) bridge supports connections from a room outfitted for video conferencing to remote participants, who may not have specialized equipment. The CMS bridge acts as a conduit to the commonly installed WebRTC and Skype for Business web conferencing technologies, and remote participants can choose to join a meeting with either option.
Skype for Business
Skype for Business is a communications platform that enables instant messaging, audio and video conferencing, and online meetings. As Microsoft product, it also displays real-time presence information, including photos, availability status, and location. UConn faculty and staff can use the full Skype client for web conferencing and instant messaging. Students and all non-UConn users can use the free web-based Skype Web App client, from Windows or Mac, to access meetings hosted by UConn faculty and staff.
